Course Description:
This course presents a general view of the structure of different sentence types in the English language from a structural and communicative perspective in order to facilitate the comprehension and production of spoken and written texts of intermediate level. The use of new technologies and a combination of theory and practice will facilitate the learning of contents.
The course systematically links reflection through induction and structural analysis of the English language to the teaching-learning of English grammar in the classroom, familiarizing future teachers of English with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that students should develop.
Active participation of students, individually and in groups, through questions, clarification of doubts and error correction will help students to generate grammar explanations to interpret and create texts and correct statements.

Assignment 1 "grammar in real context"
LUIS_GUTIERRÉZ.docx (42,6 kB)

This first assignment was focused on find simple, compound and complex sentences from a scientific article, posted in a scientific magazine. Also, the teacher requested us to identify and classify content words (nouns, adjectives, adverbs and verbs) and function words (pronouns, determiners, prepositions and conjunctions)

In a personal opinion, this task in particular was very demanding, because finding sentences in a real technical context is not easy, so I had to read very carefully to complete the task.

Task N°2

Noun Phrases in Context..docx (13054)

In this task, the teacher requested us to create a prezi and choose between several online newspaper and find noun phrases in some of the articles posted in the newspaper.; additionaly, we had to identify and classify premodifiers and postmodifieres of all sentences choosen. All of this, in a articles written in formal and technical language, which turns out to be very demanding.

task 3- Grammar in Music.docx (24248)

This was my favorite task. The teacher requested us to identify sentences in different tenses, modality and passive voice, using the lyrics of songs of our own taste on music.
I have to say that, even though the task seems easy to acomplish, it isn't at all. You must be very careful choosing the lyrics.
The main focus here is the contex in wich a model verb for example, it is used in a song.

Reaction Paper- Luis Gutiérrez.docx (102354)

On this task, all the class had to see a video about conversation between to people talking about how robotic labour will replaced human labour in the future. After that, we had to write a reaction paper about it.
In a personal point of wiew, this task turns out to be very easy and fun for me. It is a topic that I like, and give mi personal opinion about it it's always a good thing.
